Ring Size Guide

Getting your ring size right is easier than you think. We've put together three methods that work without a jeweller, and every Myni ring comes with a complimentary resize within the first year — so you're covered either way.

THREE WAYS TO MEASURE

Choose the method that works for you.

You don't need any specialist equipment. For the first two methods, download and print our PDF guide — it includes everything you need on the page, ready to use.

01/ The Paper Strip Method
  1. Print the PDF at 100% scale and cut out the measuring strip on page 1.

  2. Wrap it snugly around the base of your ring finger — not too tight, not too loose.

  3. Mark where the paper overlaps with a pen.

  4. Measure the marked length against the ruler printed on the strip.

  5. Match your measurement in mm to the size conversion table on page 2.

02/ Measure an Existing Ring
  1. Print the PDF at 100% scale and turn to page 1.

  2. Find a ring that fits your ring finger comfortably.

  3. Place it over the printed circles until you find the one that fits neatly inside the ring.

  4. The label on that circle is your UK ring size.

  5. If between sizes, go up. If none fit, contact us and we'll help you from there.

03/ The String Method
  1. Use a thin piece of string, thread, or a strip of dental floss.

  2. Wrap it around the base of your ring finger — snug but comfortable.

  3. Mark or pinch the point where it meets itself.

  4. Lay it flat against a ruler and measure the length in millimetres.

  5. Match your circumference measurement to the size chart below.

TIPS FOR ACCURACY

Small details that make a big difference.

Ring size can vary by up to a full size depending on the time of day, temperature, and which hand you measure. These tips will help you get the most accurate reading.

Measure at the end of the day

Fingers are naturally slightly larger in the evening. Measuring in the morning may give you a size that's too small.

If between sizes, go up

It is easier to resize a ring down than up. When in doubt, the larger size is always the safer choice.

Use the correct hand

Measure the ring finger on the hand the ring will be worn. Most people's dominant hand is slightly larger.

Wide bands fit tighter

If your Myni ring has a wide band (5mm or more), go half a size up from your measured size.

Avoid cold temperatures

Cold causes fingers to shrink. Don't measure immediately after being outside in winter or after handling cold water.

Measure more than once

Take at least two or three measurements on different days and at different times of day. If results vary, use the average.

The Myni Resize Guarantee

Every Myni ring comes with one complimentary resize within the first year of purchase. So even if your size is slightly off — whether due to measuring at the wrong time of day, a change in season, or simply an honest guess — we'll correct it at no cost to you.

Just get in touch and we'll arrange everything. Resizing typically takes five to seven working days and your ring will be returned fully insured.

PLANNING A SURPRISE?

How to get the right size without asking.

Buying an engagement ring as a surprise is one of the most common — and most stressful — challenges for a proposer. You're not alone. Here are the methods our clients use most successfully, from the practical to the elegant.

Borrow a ring she already wears

Find a ring she wears on her ring finger — even occasionally — and borrow it discreetly. Print our PDF guide, turn to page 1, and simply place the ring over the printed circles. The circle it sits over most neatly gives you her size instantly. No tracing, no soap — just a clear answer in seconds.

Ask someone close to her

A best friend, sister, or mother may already know — or can find out discreetly. Many of our clients' partners are in on the secret in a limited way, tasked with obtaining the size and nothing else. It works surprisingly often.

Use her right hand as a guide

Most people's ring fingers are a similar size on both hands — within half a size. If you can discreetly borrow a ring she wears on her right hand ring finger, use the same PDF circle method to find the size and apply it to the left. Need more text here.

Make your best guess - we'll resize

If all else fails, make an educated estimate. The average UK women's ring size is an N. Order the ring, propose, celebrate — and then send it back for a resize. Our complimentary first-year resize means this carries no extra cost.

The Myni Invitation - our most elegant solution.

Rather than guessing a size, some of our clients choose to present a beautifully designed Myni commission certificate at the proposal — the promise of a ring, rather than the ring itself. You design everything together afterwards, she chooses her exact size, and the ring is made to fit perfectly from the start. No guessing. No resize needed. And she gets to be involved in the design of something she'll wear every day.

Our two-page printable PDF includes a cut-out paper measuring strip and actual-size ring circles (A–Z) on page 1, and the full size conversion chart on page 2. Print at 100% scale — do not use "fit to page" or the measurements will be wrong.
