What to Expect From a Myni Consultation

Most people who book a Myni consultation have at least one of the following thoughts beforehand:
I don't really know what I want yet.
I'm worried about the budget conversation.
I'm not sure if bespoke is even right for me.
What if I make the wrong decision?
All of these are completely normal. And all of them disappear within the first few minutes of the call. Here's exactly what happens.
Before the call
Nothing is required of you beforehand. If you've been saving images to a Pinterest board for the past six months, bring them. If you have a loose sense of a stone shape you like, or a metal colour, that's a great starting point. If you have nothing at all beyond "I need an engagement ring and I don't know where to begin" — that's fine too. We've had all three, and the consultation works equally well from any starting point.
The only thing we ask is that you get in touch through the contact form so we can arrange a time that suits you. We offer calls via phone, Zoom, or WhatsApp video — whichever you're most comfortable with.
The call itself — around 30 minutes
The first consultation typically runs about half an hour. It's a conversation, not a sales pitch.
We'll usually start by asking you to tell us a bit about the person you're buying for — or yourself, if this is a self-purchase or you're designing together as a couple. What's their style like? Classic and understated, or something with more character? Do they wear a lot of jewellery already? What metals do they tend to wear?
From there, we move through the main decisions — stone type and shape, metal, setting style, budget, and timeline — at whatever pace feels right. Amy guides this part of the call. Her background is in fashion communication and graphic design, which means she's trained to ask the right questions and translate vague ideas into something concrete and visual.
By the end of the call, you'll have a clear sense of what the ring will look like, an honest conversation about budget with no pressure, a timeline for what comes next, and answers to any questions you walked in with.
What happens after
Within three working days of your consultation, you'll receive two things by email: a detailed 3D CAD design of your ring, and a full transparent quote — itemised so you can see exactly what you're paying for.
You're not committed to anything at this point. If you love it, we refine until it's exactly right and then move to production. If something isn't quite right, we adjust. If the timing or budget doesn't work, you can walk away — no obligation, no awkward follow-up.
On the budget conversation
We know this is the part people dread most. We don't judge budgets. We work with whatever you have and find the best ring within it — that might mean recommending a lab-grown stone to get a larger diamond within your range, or adjusting the metal or setting style. The goal is always the best ring for your money, not the most expensive ring we can sell you.
We also won't give you a vague "it depends" answer. Once we know what you want, we give you a real number. If that number doesn't work, we say so and suggest what does.
On not knowing what you want
Amy's favourite consultations are the ones where someone comes in with almost nothing. A sense of the person, a vague idea of a style, maybe one image saved on their phone. It means there's more room to explore.
If you do have a clear idea — a specific stone shape, a ring you've seen and loved, an existing ring you want to match a band to — that's equally useful. We work from references, from sketches, from descriptions, from a photograph of a grandmother's ring. Whatever you bring, we work with.
The consultation isn't a test. You don't need to arrive knowing the difference between pave and channel set, or understanding the 4Cs. That's Amy's job. Yours is to tell us what matters to you.
